S Curve Strategies is a member of many nonprofit organizations that focus on both transportation electrification and the cleantech space on the international, national, regional and local levels. Some are technical and some are consumer oriented. It is important to have both the technical and consumer perspective because a technical focus advances the technology, and a consumer focus provides the important view of the end user of the technology.
The Smart Electric Power Alliance is an international organization that envisions a carbon-free energy system by 2050. It facilitates the electric power industry’s smart transition to a clean and modern energy future through education, research, standards, and collaboration.
S Curve Strategies has benefitted from participating in their Electric Vehicle Working Group that focuses on the role of utilities in the deployment of electric vehicles (EVs) by identifying trends, business models, and strategies to roll out managed charging infrastructure. The group tracks trends and examines opportunities for light-duty, medium-duty, and heavy-duty vehicle classes, fleet vehicles, and charging infrastructure.
Plug In America is an advocacy group that acts as the voice of plug-in vehicle drivers across the country. The offer numerous consumer programs to help accelerate the shift to plug-in vehicles powered by clean, affordable, domestic electricity to reduce our nation’s dependence on petroleum, improve air quality and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
S Curve Strategies has partnered with the non-profit to implement their programs for many clients, such as: PlugStar, an online tool that matches consumers with EV information and EV-trained local dealerships; Dealership Training, to ensure when drivers visit a dealership sales people are trained on the technology; an EV Support Program that gives current and prospective EV drivers the opportunity to connect with experts and receive one-on-one, personalized assistance with questions about vehicles, charging and incentives and more; and offer EV test drives. They also host the annual National Drive Electric Week.
Forth is a Portland, Oregon-based non-profit that brings together communities, car companies, industry partners, utilities and entrepreneurs to support business growth, create living-wage jobs and strengthen the electric mobility economy. They advocate for smart laws and policies that strengthen emerging mobility solutions, organize test drives and run a interactive public one-stop-EV shop in the heart of the city. They host the popular Roadmap Conference in which S Curve Strategies speaks at annually. In 2020 Forth will combine its Roadmap Conference with EVS 33 the World Electric Symposium & Exposition.
Cleantech San Diego is a positions the greater San Diego region as a global leader in the cleantech economy and smart cities movement and foster collaborations across the private-public-academic landscape, leading advocacy efforts to promote cleantech priorities, and encouraging investment in the San Diego region. Members include businesses, universities, governments, and nonprofits committed to advancing sustainable solutions for the benefit of the economy and the environment.
S Curve Strategies finds their monthly educational events a good blend between EV and non-EV cleantech innovation.
S Curve Strategies volunteers for the Southern California Energy Innovation Network, a free program for startups that develop solutions to help California meet its energy goals. The program provides access to the resources and facilities of a number of regional partner organizations and connections with industry in order to accelerate the commercialization of emerging energy technologies. To date, 38 energy startup companies have been accepted into the program, that employ more than 217 people and have raised $43.1 million of private capital and $5.8 million of public funding.
The Electric Vehicle Association of San Diego educates consumers about EVs and hosts monthly educational meetings for everyone from EV enthusiast to those new to the concept of driving electric. They have long supported the rapid adoption of EVs in San Diego County and their volunteers are hyper-knowledgeable about EVs.
